Artist Statement
“ As an artist with a limited field of vision, there is always a couple of factors to conceder when planning for success. For instance, the choice to paint on small canvases was made deliberately to accommodate my visual limitations. Acrylic is applied either with a brush or a palate knife to create a smooth or texture surface. The fast drying time of acrylics, makes this medium very compatible, with the spontinous technique I have developed and have became acustom to using, to create these beautiful impressionistic style paintings. I love working with the contrast of color to create the mood and the movement people say they can feel in my paintings.
My dealings as a professional artist have helped me cope with the added stress of living with a disability. For example, not being able to drive always makes it harder to do art shows. The biggest stress is, knowing that I could wake up one day and be totally blind. I deal with that stress by painting all the time and pouring those mixed emotions into my paintings.'
